YOGA WITH MEHUL

“A ship is safe in the harbour, but that’s not what ships are built for.” – John Augustus Shedd

My style of teaching is strong, energetic and powerful, balanced out with compassion, softness and play.

Without judging or criticising, I will seek to bring out the best in you in every class.

And you never know: once in a while, perhaps your “ship” will venture out of the harbour and discover a new world that you previously thought was beyond your reach!

All are welcome, please have a look at the schedule below and give me a call to find out more:  07931 717 788

“When I joined Mehul’s class (in 2018) it was because I was looking for a dynamic class for improving strength, stamina and flexibility…having attended the trial class I thought this was perfect.

However, now a few years down the road I have found a few extra benefits…

1. I’ve learned about my breath, how to breathe and realised the physical and emotional benefits of pranayama
2. I feel extremely grounded at the yoga class. My mind is relaxed and in learning mode. My body is ready to move.
3. I feel more in tune with myself and the people around me, I feel more connected if that makes sense.
4. I feel inspired to do more and push myself to grow in many areas.”

FAQs

IS YOGA ONLY FOR THE FLEXIBLE?
No. On the contrary, as we practice yoga, we find that the stiffness in our body is gradually replaced by flexibility. This is one of the many changes people notice in their bodies just a few weeks after taking up yoga.
CAN I JOIN YOUR CLASSES IF I HAVEN’T DONE YOGA BEFORE?

Absolutely! We cater for all levels, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have about our classes.

SHOULD I BOOK THE FULL TERM OR ATTEND ON A DROP-IN BASIS?

We strongly advise you to book the full term. This is because the best way to get the most out of your investment in our yoga classes is by practicing regularly; and the commitment to attend at least once every week will go a long way towards ensuring this.

Furthermore, we tend to build upon your yoga practice as the term progresses. Some postures and sequences take a number of weeks to develop. The best way to learn these is by regular attendance.

However, if you know you will be absent for many of the sessions, then the next best thing to do is to invest in a 5 session drop-in pass.

IS IT OK TO EAT BEFORE DOING YOGA?
It is best to practice on an empty stomach: allow at least 3 hours after a heavy meal or 2 hours after a light meal before your yoga session.
WHAT ABOUT DRINKING WATER?
Drink some water before or during class as it is important to stay hydrated, but empty the bladder and bowels if possible beforehand. Of course, take a loo break whenever you need to, even while the class is in progress.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
Please invest in a good quality yoga mat, one that has a good grip so that you do not slip. You may find that other accessories, such as yoga blocks, may also help.
WHAT CLOTHING SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear comfortable clothes that will allow your skin to breathe, e.g. the kind you would wear if working out in the gym. Yoga is usually practiced in bare feet, but if you wish to wear socks then please ensure that they will not slip on your mat. Have something warm like a shawl, blanket or jumper to cover up when the body temperature drops during periods of relaxation.
HOW CAN I GET THE MOST OUT OF MY YOGA SESSION?
The secret is in the mind-set! Carry out your practice with an attitude of playful curiousity, immerse yourself completely into the present moment and enjoy the experience without worrying about achieving any goals or seeing ‘results’. Yoga is non-competitive and non-judgemental: it is your personal journey and, paradoxically, the more we ‘let go’ the need to achieve, the more we gain from our yoga practice!
I AM INTERESTED – HOW DO I JOIN YOUR CLASSES?
That’s great! Please provide some brief details about you, including your name, contact number, email and interest in yoga and drop us an email to ‘miti@yogawithmandm.com’ or ‘mehul@yogawithmandm.com’.

You are also most welcome to give Mehul a call on 07931 71 77 88.

HOW DO I PRACTICE YOGA SAFELY?
The golden rule for safety is to listen to the body and practice with care and awareness: we work with our body, not against it and we never force it into positions of pain or extreme discomfort.
ARE THERE ANY AGE LIMITS OR HEALTH RESTRICTIONS?
Although there are no age limits or health restrictions, our classes are most suitable for those who can carry out normal movements unaided. If you have any specific health conditions or mobility issues then please ensure that your GP or other qualified medical professional has given their consent for you to practice yoga.
CAN I WEAR JEWELLERY DURING CLASS?
It is advisable to not wear any jewellery or watches during class; please remove anything that is a potential hazard or can interfere with your practice before the class begins.
